Yacht Reviews Roundup November 27, 2013

Madsummer Yacht Review Madsummer – The success of the F45 Vantage series from Feadship can be explained by a number of factors, however one stands out above them all, Quality.
Madsummer true to form is a testament to the craftsmanship of the Feadship team.
Ohana Yacht Review Ohana – is a 154’ yacht with a volume of a much larger vessel.
Styled with a relaxing New England feel, her 5 en suite staterooms are large and comfortable thanks to her 30’ beam.
Perhaps the most impressive area on board is the enormous sun deck, equipped with a full service bar, multiple seating areas and a huge sun pad/jacuzzi.
One More Toy Yacht Review One More Toy – is a 155’ Christensen, built in 2001. Her composite hull and superstructure makes for a shallow draft thats perfect for cruising the islands, and the 6 stateroom layout allows One More Toy to lend herself well to multiple situations.

Hi, welcome to Inside Yachting. Thanks for joining me this week. We have three fantastic boats for you up for review. Now this is the brief roundup of those three boats and the full-length reviews can be found just down below in the text underneath this window. If you watch it on YouTube then towards the end of the video, we’ll have some links just up here on the right-hand side.

Now if you’re already over on insideyachting.com then you’ll see some buttons on the right-hand side. The yachtpack button that’s what you want to pay particular attention to now. If you like yachtpack for any of these three boats that we’re reviewing today, then click on that, leave your name, your best E-mail address that we can send it to, and the name of the boat and we’ll get that over to you right away.

Now these yachtpacks are already created, they’re ready to go. We actually have one for every boat that’s on the market and it runs through all of the photographs, the detailed descriptions, the full specifications and everything that you’d want to know if you’re particularly interested in any one boat.

Let’s get started with this week’s reviews. Now the three boats that we have for you are all little bit larger than most of the boats that we review, but what I wanted to do was, show boats that will be great options for people that are looking to own a boat in this size but would like to offset some of the owner’s expenses by chartering the boat out. All of these boats are great charter boats and have a proven and successful charter history.

Madsummer

First one here is Madsummer. Now it’s a Feadship. It’s the crème de la crème of the yachting manufacturers built obviously in Europe in the Feadship yard. It’s launched in 2008 but has been very, very well maintained on almost a no expense-spared sort of regimen. It’s a 146 feet long and has an amazing beam which means that the interior volume of the boat is much, much larger than you would see on similar size boats with beams 30 feet, in fact just over 30 feet. She has a steel hull which means she’s going to have a great handling and ride in deep water but the sort of other side of that is that she’s slightly deeper in the draft and that’s 8 feet 11 inches, but a great sea-going hull.

Full displacement, maximum increase in the speed’s around 12- to 15-knots. This boat is actually a series from Feadship that is called the F45 Vantage. The 45 is the size in meters, 45 meters. F is for Feadship of course. It’s a very successful charter sort of model that they’ve come out with. There are also plenty of them out there that are just for private use but a great interior space and nice exterior use of the usable deck space that they have on that. Its six state rooms and they have the extra state room up on the bridge deck level than the normal so the master up forwards and the full cabin is down below.

Has MTU engines in there. Again, they’ve been maintained and had all of this scheduled maintenance done to them. The interior of Madsummer is sort of a contemporary feel but they use lots of nice splashes of color here and there to give it sort of a modern touch as well. Very, very comfortable interior here that have a great use of windows, full height windows, all throughout the main salon and through the master cabin as well, and also have a beautiful skylight above the master bed which you can just see in the profile picture of Madsummer here.

Fantastic boat, pedigree all the way with Feadship. The current asking price here is $27,500,000 so really nice, nice boat here and it’s also here in Florida if you’d like to go and see it.

Ohana The next one that we have for you is Ohana. Ohana has possibly one of the most successful charter itineraries of the majority of the charter fleet that’s available right now. She’s almost going to hit 16- to 18-weeks this year which is amazing. She is a 154 feet long, built by Admiral Marine. They don’t build too many boats in this size but still a very good manufacture built in as a solid product. This is a composite hull and super structure. It means that the draft is a lot shorter or a lot less than it would be on the steel or some of the aluminum hulls. Doesn’t say here but it is 7 feet 6 inches, so she’s perfect for cruising around the Caribbean or going down island down into the Caribbean.

Again an incredible beam for even this size boat even though it’s 9 feet longer than Madsummer, 30 feet on the beam is still a very beamy boat. She has a great voluminous interior. The sky lounge is a beautiful New England sort of lay out. They have a huge flat screen TV that’s just been installed in there. All of the interior’s been refreshed. All of the mechanical, AV, electronics have all been redone over the years as well. She is slightly older, launched in 1998, but you wouldn’t know that by just walking around the boat. A very, very successful charter boat as I said and shows very well.

She is 154 feet long as I mentioned, 30 feet beam, launched in 1998 by Admiral. She has Caterpillar engines installed. They have also had all of the periodic maintenance completed on the boat. Cruising speed is around 14 knots and maximum up to about 17. She’s also here in South Florida, and we actually did some of our daily yacht tours on board her last month as well. One of the biggest draws for Ohana is the asking price, only $10,900,000 for 154-feet boat with such an impressive charter pedigree. She is really, really very attractive buy right now.

She is here in South Florida as I mentioned. You can always join us for one of our tours on board. She has 5 state rooms for 10 guests. She has another 10 crew. They run with sort of 8- to 9-crew depending on the usage. Great, great option here if you’re looking in this size range.

One More Toy The last one that we have for you today is the largest out of the three. She is 155 feet long, another composite hull and super structure so the draft is very, very shallow on this, in fact only 7 feet. One More Toy. It’s a Christensen launched in 2001, 155 feet long, 28 feet beam. That’s a fairly standard beam for this sort of size boat which goes to show how voluminous the last two, Madsummer and Ohana were, and if you look at the some of the trinities, some of the 164 trinities, they only have 28 feet beam as well. Goes to show how beamy those last two are, but here One More Toy, 28 feet beam, the 7 feet draft, another great option for the islands and around the Bahamas.

She actually has a six-state-room layout and that six state room is down below, so they have five state rooms down below, and the VIP cabin done as the sixth cabin is actually a full beam cabin so that it means when the boat is out at charter, quite often you’ll have two principal parties chartering the boat so it is always that all could point to well, who gets that master cabin. Well that’s not such an issue here because you have two great well-spaced cabins that can be used as two masters.

She is over in Europe right now. Another great proven charter track record, the fiberglass hull and super structure. She’s built by Christensen which is one of the top yachts in the state, very, very reputable builder. She runs with 10 crew, and she also has the MTU engines. She has a beautiful interior, lots of dark high-gloss woods. All of the electronics have been updated, lot of the mechanicals have been updated. Great, great option again for a really pedigree build. One More Toy’s asking price right now is $17,900,000.

Those are the three boats that we have for you today. As I mentioned, if you’re on the website, the links to the full-length reviews are just down below and if you’re on YouTube then you should be seeing this three links just pop up in the window here. Click on any one of those and it’ll take you through to those full length reviews.

I’ll encourage you to get over to insideyachting.com that’s where all of the archive of all of the reviews that we’ve done over the years has some great buyer’s guides and pricing guides and all the great information over there. Don’t forget to click on that yachtpack button, request that yachtpack for any boat that you might be interested in, and also take a look at our weekly and daily yacht tours button just towards the bottom. We do these tours in and around South Florida on boats that are in the area. We try to mix it up so that we see lots of different types, styles, and size of yachts. Click on there, leave your name and E-mail address and a good number to reach you on and we’ll be able to fit you into one of those tours. They’re again quite popular now because we’re into the seas and here in the sort of East Coast of the state into the Bahamas, New England, and sort of down to the Caribbean, and great time to be here and see some boats. Click on those reviews and I’ll see you inside.
